Shopify Hatchful email download link expired and the support escalation + direct asset retrieval process that restored client logos

So you’ve just designed a sweet new logo using Shopify Hatchful, clicked the download button, received the email, and—uh-oh—the download link has expired. Panic, right? Don’t worry! This fun ride will walk you through exactly what happened, why it happened, and how we got that perfect little logo back.

TLDR:

Your Shopify Hatchful logo download link can expire. If it does, you won’t be able to view or download your logo through the original email. We went through a short process to escalate the issue with Shopify support. Along the way, we found a direct way to retrieve the logos without even needing a new email!

Wait… What is Hatchful?

Hatchful by Shopify is a free logo maker tool. You answer a few questions, it gives you a bunch of design options, and boom—you get a shiny new brand identity. It even sends your logo package right to your email.

Inside that package? Multiple versions of your logo in different sizes. Social media icons. Brand guidelines. It’s honestly pretty magical. But the magic fades fast if you can’t open the thing.

So, what went wrong?

Here’s what usually happens:

  1. You use Hatchful to create a logo.
  2. You get an email from Shopify with your download link.
  3. You forget about it (life happens).
  4. You try to download it a week or two later, but… link expired.

Shopify Hatchful logo emails contain temporary links. They expire after a few days (we found that it’s somewhere between 7–14 days).

So if that logo is essential to your business, it’s a frustrating blocker when the link doesn’t work anymore.

Working with Shopify Support

This is where the adventure begins. We reached out to Shopify Support using their live chat. Here’s what we learned:

After a bit of back-and-forth, support escalated the issue to what they called their “Branding Team.” Fancy!

Pro Tip:

Always keep the original email with the expired download link. It’s your proof and contains important tracking data.

Direct Asset Retrieval (The Magical Solution!)

While support worked their magic, we did a little digging of our own. And guess what? Hatchful doesn’t just send you logos by email—it also generates a hidden download link during creation!

If you saved that link, even if the email expired, it often still worked. Here’s how to find it:

  1. Go back to Hatchful (https://hatchful.shopify.com/).
  2. Log in with the same email you used originally.
  3. Sometimes, your past logo projects are still visible under your account dashboard.
  4. If not, search your browser history for any Hatchful URL around the time you made the logo.

We managed to grab a few download links just before support fully resolved the case. Some weren’t expired—it was all about timing!

When Support Comes Through

Three days after our escalation, we received a new download email from Shopify!

It looked just like the old one, only this time the links worked. Hooray!

The email included:

Lessons Learned

We came through this mess a little wiser. Here’s our advice if you plan to use Hatchful:

Real Client Story

We had one client whose logo we made for a small candle shop—beautiful soft pastel colors with elegant font.

They forgot to download it in time and only realized two weeks later. After a minor panic attack, we went through support, accessed their original Hatchful account, AND found the hidden download page. Triple win!

The new logo is now proudly printed on candle labels across Etsy. Crisis completely averted.

What About Backups?

We’re fans of organizing brand assets in folders named like this:

That way, you’ll never have to chase expired emails again. Store it once, use it anywhere.

Conclusion: You Got This

Shopify Hatchful is a powerful, free, and fun branding tool. Yes, it has its quirks—like download links expiring—but the logo you love isn’t lost forever.

With quick action, a little know-how, and maybe a friendly support chat, you’ll get that beautiful logo back where it belongs: in your hands and on your website.
